Akash_PhotoMr. Akash is the Founder and President of INDIS, LLC. Akash has over 12 years of hands-on R&D experience working on over half a dozen clean technologies ranging from Lithium-Batteries, Biodiesel, Hydrogen Separation, Fuel Cells, Green Building Materials, Nanomaterials, Clean Coal Combustion, to Nuclear Waste Recycling.

 He has over dozen US patents in several of these CleanTech areas and won a materials innovation award from the State of Utah and two research & innovation solicitation awards from the US Dept. of Defense. His patented fuel cell insulation material also received invitation to the Worlds Best Technology Showcase. Akash has written business plans on new emerging clean technologies, and led the marketing efforts for a winning product proposal funded by the US Dept of Energy.

In his over 12 years of professional experience, he has taken up various roles with increasing complexity: engineer, investment associate, product manager, principal investigator, program manager, financial consultant, and technical advisor. His cost cutting and process improvement approaches have been recognized by customers. Currently, Mr. Akash consults with Private Equity and Venture Capital Firms who are interested in investing in Cleantech sector either in USA or in India. His firm, INDIS, LLC offers PE & VC firms strategic due diligence services including deal origination, deal screening, technological risk analysis, IP valuation, market trends, and financial valuation. He has evaluated over 100 business plans in various cleantech sectors including Ocean Power, Solar Power, Electric Scooters, Jatropha Plantation, Organic Foods, Energy Management, and Electronic Waste, to name a few.

Akash has had hands-on experience with Silicon chip fabrication – a process commonly used in the solar power industry. He also has direct, hands-on experience with nanomaterials and roll-to-roll printing on flexible substrates which is a new emerging technology in the solar sector. He has evaluated several business plans in the solar sector and closely tracks new developments in this market. He has also prepared a Merger & Acquisition (M&A) pitch book for two solar companies (acquirer & acquiree), as part of a team. Akash has also advised socially-focused VC firms interested in for-profit rural energy opportunities in India like micro-hydro and small-biomass. Akash has been active in the non-profit sector for over a decade and has been involved with organizations like ASHA, AID, and Rejuvenate India Movement. He is also active in local non-profits in Utah and served on the board of directors for a Utah-based non-profit Adventure Giving.

Akash has a B. Tech. in Materials Science & Engineering (Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, India), MS in Materials Science & Engineering (The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA), and MBA (University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT). He is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society and Phi Kappa Phi honor society.
